Immigration Enforcement | Writing Pedagogy | Digital Photography | Folklore
I understand border checkpoints as a metonym of immigration enforcement, so my book project centers these sites to examine the constituative yet symbiotic relationship between citizenship and criminality at the US-Mexico border.
My research on writing considers the multitude of local and global forces—languages, economies, histories, socializations, institutions—that inform the experiences of students at the border and beyond.
I investigate how digital photography captures everyday intimacies as well as provides counter-surveillance against institutions.
I gravitate toward folklore to share in the stories, histories, and practices surrounding migration.
